NYCOSH 2014 SAFETY & HEALTH SERIES: Temporary Workers and Occupational Health & Safety

Thu, Nov 6, 2014 at 10:00 AM to at 01:00 PM

Why Special Issues Do They Face? Why Are They at Greater Risk? What Is Being Done About It?

Temporary workers in a variety of fields have come to be the victim of a great deal of employer abuse.  One of the greatest examples of this abuse is in occupational safety and health.  Overworked, underprotected, and taken advantage of their status, temporary workers are subjected to an even greater number of hazardous conditions than full time workers.  This forum will focus on this issue by exploring the hazards that are faced, examining some recent findings, and hearing from temporary workers telling their stories.  We will also discuss what needs to be done to help make their workplaces safer and healthier.
