AFGE Delivers 500K Signatures to Keep SSA Offices Open

American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) National President, J David Cox joined the Alliance for Retired Americans and other supporters to deliver petitions to the Social Security Administration (SSA) field office in Jamaica, Queens.  AFGE Collected over 500,000 signatures in support of keeping SSA field offices open in light of the administration’s “Vision 2025” which aims to direct Social Security recipients  to the SSA website for claims instead of to physical office locations.

Many retirees and low-income Social Security recipients do not have computers or internet access and view Vision 2025 as an act of discrimination.

The action was coordinated along with other events in Columbus, Ohio; Oakland, California and Washington DC.
