Building Trades Members Rally to Support Worker Safety Training

This week, thousands of construction workers gathered at City Hall to support Intro. 1447, a measure to require increased safety training for building projects in New York City. The rally took place while the City Council heard testimony on the bill.

During the rally, workers heard from Building and Construction Trades Council President Gary LaBarbera and a host of other labor leaders including Mason Tenders District Council Business Manager Bobby Bonanza, New York State District Council of Ironworkers President James Mahoney, and NYC CLC President Vincent Alvarez about the importance of standing together for worker safety. Supportive elected officials also joined to voice their commitments to helping keep workers safe on the job.

The bill is awaiting action by the City Council Committee on Housing and Buildings.
