Jet Blue Flight Attendants File to Join TWU

This Wednesday, Jet Blue flight attendants traveled to Washington, D.C. to file paperwork with the National Mediation Board to join the Transport Workers Union.  Jet Blue employs roughly 4,800 flight attendants, 2,200 of whom work at JFK Airport.

Flight attendants also flyered at airports in Boston, D.C., Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Orlando and Long Beach, Calif, on Wednesday, to help raise awareness of the campaign, and the benefits of unionization.

“This is the biggest and most important organizing drive in the airline industry in decades,” Samuelsen said.

“Increasing numbers of workers are realizing that they have to unite against the right-wing politicians and the greedy, multi-billion-dollar corporations. Both groups are far more interested in corporate profits than the well-being of everyday working Americans,” he said.

TWU represents flight attendants at Southwest and Allegiant Airlines.
