New York, NY – The New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO today announced its endorsements of Mayor Bill de Blasio, Public Advocate Letitia James, and Comptroller Scott Stringer for re-election.

“We are proud to endorse Mayor de Blasio for a second term,” said Vincent Alvarez, President of the New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO.  “Over the last four years, Mayor de Blasio has reaffirmed his support for working people and the issues affecting their families and communities. From negotiating long overdue contracts and supporting New York City's municipal workers, to working with construction trade unions, and standing up for private sector workers, Mayor de Blasio continues to fight for all working people, their right to a voice at work, and the right to organize in the name of better wages, working conditions, and respect. We look forward to continuing to work together to create a better New York City for all working people.”

“Public Advocate Letitia James fully understands the importance of protecting the rights of working people,” said President Alvarez.  “Whether we are rallying to settle contract fights or advocating for safety standards, we can always count on Public Advocate James to step in and do all she can to support working people. We are proud to endorse Public Advocate James, and we are proud to have her as a partner in the fight to protect the rights of all working New Yorkers.”

“Comptroller Scott Stringer has consistently supported the work of New York City’s working men and women,” said President Alvarez.  “From standing with us to protect retirement security and worker pensions, to protecting prevailing wages, he has proven to be a real friend of working people.  We are proud to endorse Comptroller Stringer for a second term, and we look forward to continuing to stand together with him to ensure that workers receive the wages and benefits to which they are entitled.”

This is the first set of endorsements made by the New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO in the 2017 election season. For a full list of Central Labor Council endorsements, please visit www.nycclc.org.
