NYC CLC Pres. Alvarez: Working People Proved All Workers Win When We Stand United

New York, NY – Vincent Alvarez, President of the New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO released the following statement today regarding voters’ defeat of Ballot Proposition 1 on the possibility of a New York State Constitutional Convention, and regarding the victories of the Council’s endorsed candidates:

“Working people spoke today, and stood up for the critical protections enshrined in our New York State Constitution. We proved that when we stand united with a common purpose and one voice, all working people win.

“Now we look forward to continuing to work with our city government to ensure a growing economy that combats income inequality through the creation of good jobs with family sustaining wages, benefits, and retirement security.

“These challenging times require us to come together to work collectively for the good of our city, and the hardworking men and women who call it home. We will continue to do just that.”
