Rally with Teamsters on Strike for One Year

Teamsters have been on strike at a Brooklyn oil terminal for one year in a fight for a first union contract. The United Metro Energy workers are rallying at City Hall on Thursday, April 21, at noon to call on Mayor Adams to end city purchases of fuel from the company that are undermining the strike. Please join these workers at the rally at City Hall at noon to show your solidarity!

These workers stayed on the job to keep New York fueled through the pandemic, but their billionaire owner, John Catsimatidis, continued to pay them as much as 50% less than the area standard wage for their industry.

Throughout the year-long strike, New York City has continued to purchase millions of dollars of heating oil from the company. The National Labor Relations Board is investigating illegal firings that targeted union activists in retaliation for the strike and the NYC Comptroller is investigating the company's prevailing wage violations.
