Rally with VA Workers to #SaveMyVA

Members of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) Local 2094 will unite with Rep. Carolyn Maloney, AFGE National President Everett Kelley, and veterans on Monday, April 18, to protest the VA’s recommended closure of dozens of VA facilities nationwide, including the Manhattan VA facility.

Under VA Secretary McDonough’s leadership, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) recently released a series of recommendations to the Asset and Infrastructure Review (AIR) Commission that, if enacted, would shutter large segments of the VA health care system, cause mass layoffs, deny veterans their preferred choice in health care providers, and force our nation’s heroes into a patchwork of for-profit, private care.

Members of AFGE locals 862 and 1667 also recently united to protest the VA’s recommended closure of the Brooklyn VA facility, which was named in the AIR Commission recommendations. Local workers and veterans are joining AFGE NVAC members nationwide in calling on President Biden and members of Congress to put veteran care first and reject any AIR Commission recommendations that call for VA facility closures.

At 12pm at the Manhattan VA, 423 East 23rd Street. For more information contact Gabriel Pedreira, 202-445-5782. You can also sign a petition to save the VA from closures here!
