Rally for Good Jobs & Park Space for Brooklyn Residents

On Monday, April 20th hundreds of Build Up NYC members and supporters gathered at Brooklyn Borough Hall to call for the creation and protection of good jobs, and the maintenance of park space for residents.

Developers at nearby Brooklyn Bridge Park and Watchtower Properties have not committed to providing the good jobs Brooklyn needs to grow and maintain its middle class, and the rally was designed to hold developers Starwood Capital and Kushner Companies accountable.

During the rally, the Center for Popular Democracy also highlighted a new report entitled “Developing Progress: Ensuring that public resources contribute to New York equity, resilience and dynamic democracy,"  which proposes progressive real estate development policies designed to demonstrate the importance of economic, social and environmental impacts in growing a city that is more equitable, resilient and democratic.
