Faculty and Staff Blockade Doors to CUNY Central, Demand Fair Contract to Protect Quality Education

On Wednesday, 54 CUNY faculty and professional staff, members of the Professional Staff Congress (AFT#2334), were arrested while demanding a contract that will help CUNY retain excellent professors, ensuring a quality education for the 500,000 CUNY students across the city.

Protestors blocked the doors to the midtown office building housing CUNY’s central administration, and refused to move until the university management made a fair offer to resolve their long-expired union contract. A crowd of 800 CUNY faculty, staff, students, members of NYSUT, DC37, Rutgers AAUP-AFT, the NYC CLC, and other supporters rallied to support them. 25,000 PSC members have worked six years without a raise.
