SEIU Local 246 Mechanic Recognized for Saving $700K for FDNY
This week, Local 246 member Jomar Pichardo was recognized by the FDNY for saving the department roughly $700,000. Pichardo, who works to keep city ambulances up, running, and available 24/7 was able to find ways refurbish vehicle batteries and parts that would normally be discarded. Pichardo helped to create devices for cleaning and charging the batteries, as well as repairing ambulance circuit boards, which would previously be discarded each time a circuit failed.
Congrats to Jomar Pichardo for finding ways to save taxpayer dollars while allowing our first responders to continue to provide exceptional service.
