NYC CLC Hosts Community Board 101 Training

On Wednesday evening, the NYC CLC hosted our first Community Board 101 training. Community boards play an important role in our city, providing a space for neighborhood concerns and priorities to be addressed within communities; however, many citizens know little about them. At our training, we hoped to change that and begin empowering union members to become strong community advocates. Our training was attended by members of a diverse slate of unions, including CWA Local 1180, 1199 SEIU, CSA, TWU Local 100, TWU NYS Conference, PSC-CUNY, CSEA, Actors’ Equity Association, HTC, and UFT.

Attendees participated in a team-building activity to learn more about important aspects of neighborhoods and communities, learned about community boards and how they impact working families, and discussed ways our members can be actively involved in our neighborhoods and communities. Community boards are another way to ensure that the voice of labor is heard throughout our city and in our neighborhoods. Thanks to all who participated in a successful first Community Board 101 training!
