School Safety Agents Honored For Bravery During October Lower Manhattan Terror Attack

This week, 20 school safety agents - members of Teamsters Local 237, received Excellent Performance of Duty awards for being among the first on the scene to help save lives and restore calm following the October 31st attack in Battery Park City.   The ceremony took place on Thursday at Stuyvesant High School, and the school safety agents were formally thanked by Local 237 President Gregory Floyd, representatives of the United Federation of Teachers, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, and representatives of the NYPE and the DOE.

"These school safety agents dove into action, and provided direction," said Gregory Floyd, President of Teamsters Local 237.  "They displayed calm to replace fear, and represented not only the authority of law enforcement, but the comfort of a parent. They were professional, yet compassionate, and they helped to save lives.  They were and are heroes."
