Dr. James Melius, Advocate for Workers’ Health, Dies at 69

Dr. James Melius, an expert on workplace medicine and fierce advocate for worker health, has died at age 69. Dr. Melius worked for the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health as well as the New York State Laborers’ in his long career as an advocate.

Dr. Melius testified before Congress in support of workers suffering from the effects of 9/11 related illness and was a strong proponent of the science behind what became the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act.
