Support a Pathway to Citizenship for DREAMers and TPS Recipients

Last week, the national AFL-CIO and more than 30 other labor unions and allied organizations sent letters to Congressional leadership from both parties, urging them to work together to immediately pass a law that will give permanent protections and a pathway to citizenship to Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients. Without Congressional action, more than a million working people are at risk of losing their rights on the job, including tens of thousand of union members across a wide range of industries. Working people across the nation are joining together to fight against this administration's attempts to terminate the TPS and DACA programs.

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka has called upon Congress to act and pass this legislation that is fundamental in protecting the rights of all working people: "For the labor movement, these programs have been vital in ensuring that hundreds of thousands of working people have rights on the job and the freedom to negotiate together for fair pay and working conditions. It is long past due that all members of Congress work together to immediately pass legislation that will give Temporary Protected Status and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients a pathway to citizenship."
