Climate Jobs NY Update: Support the Sunrise Wind Project

In another positive momentum driver for NY’s offshore wind development, the Bureau of Ocean Management (BOEM) announced the Notice of Intent (NOI) to prepare an Environment Impact Statement (EIS) of the Sunrise Wind project.

During the 30-day public comment period, BOEM is seeking information to determine the scope of important resources and issues, potential impacts to the environment, reasonable alternatives, and mitigation measures to be analyzed in the EIS. After identifying the scope of the review, BOEM will conduct a full environmental analysis as part of the EIS and determine whether to approve the COP.

The comment period will close on September 30, 2021. We encourage you to submit a comment about why you support launching the Sunrise Wind project on Long Island and bringing good, family-sustaining jobs to the area. Go here to comment: www.regulations.gov and search for Docket No. BOEM–2021–0052. Click on the ‘‘Comment Now!’’ button to the right of the document link. Additionally, BOEM will host three virtual scoping meetings where you can learn more about the COP, ask questions, and provide oral testimony. BOEM’s virtual scoping meetings will be held on the following dates:
