Workers Get NYC Through The Storm

New York City's first responders, transportation workers, sanitation workers, health care workers, utility workers and more were once again there when we needed them most, as Ida's remnants caused massive flooding across the boroughs on Wednesday night. Workers got their fellow New Yorkers out of immediate danger and worked tirelessly to get this City running again.

NYS Governor Kathy Hochul called a press conference yesterday at Fresh Pond Depot to thank workers, specifically praising the actions of Bus Operator Rosa Almonte, who drove her bus through raging waters to bring her passengers to safety last night. The widely circulated video of her bus opens the video. Joining Gov. Hochul and Bus Operator Almonte at the press event were public officials and TWU Local 100 TA Surface Vice President JP Patafio.
