Climate Jobs NY Update: South Fork gets the Green Light from New York State

We did it! The South Fork Offshore Wind Project has all state approvals to become New York's first offshore wind project.

The New York Public Service Commission (PSC) approved the Environmental Management and Construction Plan, and the Federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) issued its Record of Decision on the project. The PSC highlighted Climate Jobs NY's comments in its order, including the Certificate Holder’s commitment to work with organized labor. This is a crucial step forward for our state's first offshore wind farm. Anticipating the approval of the Construction and Operations Plan in January from BOEM, construction can begin in early 2022! This project is crucial for servicing local energy demand and also lays the groundwork for future offshore wind development in New York State. Read more about Climate Jobs NY's work here.
