Climate Jobs NY Update: Carbon Free and Healthy Schools City Council Testimony

At the Committee on Finance Fiscal Year 2023 Budget Hearing on 5/25, Carbon Free and Healthy Schools Campaign Director Tory Kaso and CJNY union members testified before the New York City Council, urging their support for an investment to create thousands of good union jobs and reduce emissions across the city.

Kaso testified, “By taking bold action, NYC has the opportunity to lead the nation, serving as a model on decarbonization, while guaranteeing policies and incentives that bring good jobs to traditionally disadvantaged communities in a just and equitable way.”

She was joined by a number of unions in calling for support of CFHS, including Local 3 IBEW and Laborers Local 79, who in their testimony emphasized that "the City needs to invest in Carbon Free & Healthy Schools to create a safe learning environment for NYC's 1.2 million students and staff."
