Many New York Union Members Will Have Student Loans Fully Forgiven by October. Will You?

After 14 years with a deeply flawed system, labor has advocated for change and we finally have the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program we need. Because of a special US Department of Education program related to the COVID crisis, 250,000 New Yorkers are eligible to have all their student loans erased. 5,000 New Yorkers have already had an average of $63,935 forgiven!

But the fix is temporary and only lasts until October 31, 2022.

The NYC CLC is working alongside the PSLF.nyc Campaign, a coalition of nonprofits, government agencies and labor unions, to spread the word. Use the 20 minute Help Tool at StudentAId.gov/PSLF to see if you are eligible for loan forgiveness, or visit PSLF.nyc to join a webinar or find one-on-one help. There are upcoming webinars next week, scroll down for more info and to register.
