Starbucks Workers and Supporters Rally on Staten Island

Workers at the Starbucks location at 480 Forest Avenue rallied with supporters on Wednesday in support of the workers' demands and against the company's ongoing union-busting tactics. Baristas at Staten Island's first unionized Starbucks commenced bargaining yesterday over their working conditions during a temporary store closure.

The workers, who are members of Starbucks Workers United, won their union election unanimously in early September, and were then told by management that the store would have to be "temporarily closed" for renovations. Allies from the NYC CLC, UFT, ATU Local 726, 1199 SEIU, CWA Local 1102, TWU and more were on hand to support the baristas and ensure that their store reopens with the same workers after renovations.
