Strike Imminent at Children's Law Center

Workers at the Children’s Law Center, members of A Better CLC/UAW Local 2325, have been negotiating their first contract for nearly two and a half years. During this time, CLC management has repeatedly engaged in bad faith bargaining. Most egregiously, CLC failed to provide a single salary counter over 831 days. On Monday, CLC proposed salary scales starting at $37K annually for some positions. This is not a livable wage and unconscionable in NYC’s public defender sector.

After many escalating actions, members voted 95% in favor of authorizing the CLC Bargaining Committee to call for a strike if necessary. More than a month ago the CLC Bargaining Committee issued a strike deadline of July 12th to management in hopes that management would seriously engage in negotiations. Yet, management has continued to stall and stonewall at the table, including refusing to move on their salary counter. Following management’s failure to reach a deal at today’s session, A Better CLC have decided to go on strike imminently.

Pickets times will be announced soon, so make sure to follow A Better CLC on Twitter and Instagram for updates! You might also consider making a donation to the workers' strike fund: https://givebutter.com/aBetterCLC.
