Union Members From Across New York and New Jersey Descend on NYC for SAG/WGAE Union Strong Day of Action
Hundreds of union members from Long Island to Buffalo to Trenton answered the call on Thursday, as the NYS and NJ AFL-CIOs held a Union Strong Day of action in support of striking Writers Guild of America East and SAG-AFTRA members. The rally was held outside of Netflix's offices at Broadway and 19th Street, and featured speakers including SAG-AFTRA NY Local President Ezra Knight; WGAE President Michael Winship; Actor, Producer, Comedian and Screenwriter John Leguizamo; NY State Senator Mike Gianaris; NYS AFL-CIO President Mario Cilento; SAG-AFTRA Philadelphia Local President Nicole Izanec; NJ AFL-CIO President Charles Wowkanech; IATSE President Matt Loeb; WGAE Executive Director Lowell Peterson; SAG-AFTRA NY Executive Director Rebecca Damon; and NY Attorney General Letitia James.
Members of area labor federations from across New York State filled the streets, representing the NYC CLC, the Long Island Federation of Labor, the Western NY Area Labor Federation, the Capital District Area Labor Federation, the Hudson Valley Area Labor Federation, and the Westchester-Putnam Central Labor Body.
