UAW Strike News Roundup!
As of last Friday, there are now 25,000 UAW members on strike at 43 facilities in 21 states nationwide, including more than 75 members of UAW Local 3039 at the Stellantis parts distribution center in Tappan who have now been out on the line for two weeks.
This week, supporters joined the New York Working Families Party for a dealership canvass at Premier Ford in Bay Ridge, leafleting community members about the UAW’s Stand-Up Strike and how Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis are refusing to settle fair contracts with their workers after making $250 billion in profits.
And on Saturday, UAW Regions 9 and 9A along with the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, NYC Chapter, Teamsters Local 808, the Coalition of Labor Union Women, the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement and more rallied in support of the striking workers in front of the General Motors Building in NYC.
Here's how to help this week:
1. If you're able to get to Tappan, join Local 3039's picket line at 108 NY-303. The picket will be up 24 hours a day until the strike ends.
3. Call 318-300-1249 and leave a voice message for the Big Three CEOs “Give UAW workers the same 40% wage increase you got!”
