Journalists at The Atlantic announced the formation of a union on Monday, reporting that 80% of staff writers, copy editors, fact checkers, staff editors, art directors, engineers and producers at the magazine and online platform had signed cards indicating support for The Atlantic Union. They will become part of the NewsGuild of New York and represent close to 100 people.

This week it was announced that an overwhelming majority of staff at the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU Law, a nonpartisan law and policy institute, have joined together to form a union with the National Organization of Legal Services Workers (NOLSW), UAW Local 2320.

Digital producers on Gannett's Atlantic Digital Optimization Team (DOT) have formed a union with the NewsGuild of New York, CWA Local 31003 to advocate for themselves, their profession and the communities they serve. Employees at yet another of New York City’s major museums have taken steps to form a union. This time the organizing effort is taking place at the Brooklyn Museum, where a proposed union would represent a mixture of full- and part-time workers. The Technical, Office and Professional Union, UAW Local 2110 filed a petition on  Tuesday asking for an NLRB vote.
