President Alvarez: Support for “Fight for $15” Movement Crosses Industries, Workers Understand Strength in Numbers

New York, NY – New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO President Vincent Alvarez today released the following statement regarding the “Fight for $15” day of action:

 “All around the city, and all around the country, workers have come together today to call on billion-dollar corporations like McDonald’s and Burger King to do right by their workers,” said Vincent Alvarez, President of the New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO.

“Support for this movement crosses industries and wage levels, because fundamentally, workers understand that they are stronger together. The New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, is proud to stand with our affiliates from the public sector, private sector, and building trades to ensure that ALL working New Yorkers have the tools they need to live, raise families, and invest in their local communities.“
