NYC CLC Pres. Statement on TWU Local 100's Tentative Contract Agreement

Vincent Alvarez, President of the New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, released the following statement regarding Transport Workers Union Local 100's tentative contract agreement:

“We congratulate the members of TWU Local 100 on reaching a tentative agreement on their contract with the MTA. The hard-fought contract was the result of good-faith bargaining, preparation, and a strong commitment to the principles of Local 100. The agreement includes raises that exceed the rate of inflation and adequately address the financial needs of the members, many of whom work and live in NYC, during a time when all workers are seeing their cost of living rise. The negotiating committee also worked tirelessly to address safety concerns, improve medical benefits, and guarantee no financial concessions from the workers. We commend the diligent work of TWU Local 100’s leadership in their efforts to ensure their members’ concerns continue to be met.” #
