Statement by NYC CLC President Vincent Alvarez on 2022 Election Results

Yesterday, working New Yorkers made their voices heard, voting in support of candidates who will stand up for working families and engaging voters one on one through our NYC Labor Votes! Campaign and the efforts of our affiliate unions.

In the majority of races, New York City voters chose labor-endorsed candidates who are focused on centering the economic concerns of working people and our families. Across our City and State, workers also answered the call to flip their ballots and vote in favor of racial justice and environmental bond measures that will improve the lives of working families for generations to come.

We congratulate Governor Kathy Hochul, who makes history as the first woman elected Governor of New York, Senator Chuck Schumer, and all of our winning endorsed candidates across the City. While 2022 was a challenging cycle and there is more work to be done, the New York City Labor Movement looks forward to continued collaboration with our elected officials as we fight for an economy that works for the working people of New York City.
