Take Action: Pass the New Deal for CUNY and Stop Needless Cuts!

At nine CUNY colleges, class sizes were increased, hiring freezes were enforced, adjuncts and other contingent faculty and staff were fired, some losing their health insurance, with just days to go before the start of the Spring semester. Thousands of students’ schedules were upended. These mid-year cuts are ON TOP OF another $169 million in budget reductions demanded by CUNY over the last two years.

Click here to send a letter calling for passage of the New Deal for CUNY legislation, the rejection of all state and city proposals for flat or reduced CUNY funding, and full operational and capital funding for CUNY from the state and city. New Deal for CUNY calls for hiring more mental health counselors and academic advisors; reducing class sizes by increasing the ratio of full-time faculty to students; providing pay parity for adjunct faculty and staff; and a five-year capital renewal plan to repair and upgrade CUNY’s failing infrastructure.
