The UAW represents over 1200 graduate workers at New York University and have been in negotiations for a contract for over one year.  It has become apparent that the union will not succeed in obtaining a fair agreement without organizing for a strike.  The union has set a deadline for a limited four day strike commencing Tuesday, March 10th.

On February 24, MFY union members (LSSA - NOLSW/UAW Local 2320) voted to ratify the agreement met with MFY management.

On January 30th, MFY union members (LSSA - NOLSW/UAW Local 2320) voted to reject the unreasonable contract offered by MFY management, and are now on strike. The union will be picketing MFY, 299 Broadway in lower Manhattan, Monday, February 23rd from 8:00am - 10:00am and 3:00pm - 5:30pm.

Bronx, NY – Workers at Hunts Point Market voted to approve a new, three year contract today, with 97% of workers voting "yes."  The 1,300 workers, members of Teamsters Local 202, will receive significant wage increases in each year of the contract. 2015 has already shown positive gains for workers at Zara retail locations, with workers receiving raises of $2.50 an hour.  An aggressive campaign by the Retail Action Project (RAP) and the Retail, Wholesale, and Department Store Union (RWDSU) resulted in Zara also increasing the number of full-time positions at their stores.

This week, City Hall reached a tentative $248 million contract deal with IUOE Locals 891 and 94, which represent public school custodians, firemen, and  stationary engineers. If approved, Local 891's agreement would cover the period between January of 2008 and December of 2015.  Local 94's contract would cover the period between October of 2007 and October of 2016.
