This week the United States Supreme Court (SCOTUS) rejected a request to rehear the Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association case, which received a 4-4 ruling from the court in March of this year. This week, a Macy’s strike was narrowly averted when RWDSU Local 1-S and Macy’s reached a tentative contract agreement. Workers at the flagship Herald Square store, along with others at locations in the Bronx, Queens and White Plains, New York, were prepared to strike, as well. The contract now awaits ratification by Local 1-S membership.
