The Edward J. Malloy Initiative for Construction Skills (CSKILLS) is a pre-apprenticeship preparation program that involves classroom instruction and hands-on training. Since 2001, CSKILLS has placed over 2,300 New York City residents into union-registered apprenticeship programs and more than 1,600 of these apprentices remain actively employed in the unionized construction industry.

Teachers and staff at Blue School held a one-day strike on Tuesday, May 24, after the School, an independent school founded by Blue Man Group in Lower Manhattan, announced that it will refuse to recognize their union. The School’s refusal is in defiance of a bargaining order issued by the NLRB.
